Dragons: Rise of Berk Wiki

The Ascension Chamber is a location where you can ascend your dragons to the Hidden World. It unlocks when Toothless reaches level 20.

There is a 50 rune cost every time the Ascension Chamber is used to ascend dragons. For each dragon you ascend, you will receive Dragon Scales in return. The amount of scales you receive are based on the rarity, level, and amount of dragons you ascend at once. Scales can then be spent at Portals to receive various prizes.

Ascended dragons are removed from Berk to go to the Hidden World. There is no option to recover these dragons, similarly to if the dragon was released.

Occasionally, time-limited Elusive Portals are released. During these portals, players must ascent dragons of a specific species to gain Elusive Scales . When ascending one of these dragons, half of the scales stay regular Dragon Scales, and the other half become Elusive Scales. Players can then spend these scales at the Elusive Portal. These portal typically hold less items than normal portals, and have a lower cost. However, they are only available for a limited time.

In Update 1.71, a new portal was opened for the Fault Ripper. This is the largest portal to date with 1,000 items contained inside.

Dragon Scale Rates[]

This table lists the amount of scales ascending a dragon of each rarity is worth.

Dragon Rarity Scales per Dragon
Common 20
Uncommon 50
Rare 650
Exclusive 1,750
Premium 7,250

There is a +10% bonus to the scales earned when ascending 2 dragons, and a +25% bonus to the scales earned when ascending 3 dragons. Additionally for each level the dragon has earned, there is a 0.5% bonus added to that dragon's scales. Thus, it is generally recommended to feed new dragons to level 3 before trading them in to gain an extra 1% scales.

Dragon Scale Farming Tips[]

Due to the 50 rune cost to ascend dragons, it is not recommended to use Common or Uncommon dragons in the Ascension Chamber. It is far more cost effective to ascend duplicate Rare, Exclusive, or Premium dragons. Farming these dragons to obtain three extras in order to ascend can be difficult. One of the best methods is to find Exclusive dragons in a Journey. It is generally recommended to only farm Exclusives from journey's that have some other good reward to make it not too costly. Meatlug's Journey for 2 runes is a good choice due to to possibility of getting the Edgewing and Rare Pack on the same wheel. Likewise in Stormfly's Journey for 100 runes, you have the chance to get Outsnapper along with a Rare Pack or large amounts of runes. Toothless' Journey for 200M Wood is an excellent choice for players above level 124 due to the frequency the Ambered Nadder shows up with the Premium Pack, Rare Pack and 450 runes providing a nice return on investment. Players whose Toothless is below level 124 may elect to use him instead to search for multiple exclusive dragons during limited exploration events. Resource returns for these events are decent and can be an important source when dragon gathering is tight.

For Dragon Rider subscribers, having the Light Fury search for Exclusive dragons is a good way to farm. Repeating the short search at Hidden World (Meatlug's Offspring) will likely provide several copies of the dragon to use for the Ascension Portal. Additionally, since Meatlug's Offspring trains quickly, players can easily get it to level 12 to obtain 6% extra scales.
